Improved lighting conditions for performances, teaching and recording

The lighting in the main hall of the University of Music and Performing Arts Frankfurt has been comprehensively modernised. The previous system was no longer adequate in terms of brightness, uniformity and colour rendering to fully meet the requirements of events, rehearsals and recordings.

The aim of the project was to significantly improve the quality of light in the hall and on stage, whilst creating a flexible, future-proof solution for a variety of usage scenarios. To this end, around 80 high-quality LED luminaires with a colour rendering index of Ra > 90 were installed. An illuminance of 750 lux with high uniformity is now achieved on stage, a significant improvement for event operations as well as for high-quality recordings.

The project was complemented by new luminaire brackets and the extension of the 2-point trusses. In addition, 16 high-quality LED step lenses in a tunable white version were installed, enabling precise adjustment of the lighting atmosphere and colour temperature.

The control system was also adapted to the new requirements: the existing Paradigm sub-console system was expanded to include two touch panels and adjustable presets with different user levels. This allows the lighting to be controlled even more intuitively and in a more user-centric manner during daily operations.

Particularly pleasing: the entire project was completed within just three weeks.
