Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater Schwerin Interim

Our feasibility study and subsequent technical planning resulted in a fully equipped interim venue that will enable the Mecklenburg State Theatre to continue its professional operations during the renovation of the E-Werk.

As part of a feasibility study, theapro investigated the conversion of a disused newspaper production hall into a temporary performance venue. Various staging options were examined, including a rotating auditorium, as well as the technical possibilities and acoustic conditions. The planned installations were visualized in 3D and evaluated in terms of their feasibility.

theapro then took over the technical planning and project supervision. Instead of a rotating stage, a fixed stage area was created. The stage technology includes a modern chain hoist system with load monitoring, a circumferential rail system with fabric hangings and a stage curtain, as well as a mobile truss. A flexible offset box infrastructure with a hot patch system was planned for the stage lighting. Existing components such as the lighting console could be integrated and were supplemented by an LED spotlight park with moving lights and step lenses. Two projectors, each with 15,000 ANSI lumens, and a wireless camera system expand the visual equipment. The media technology is based on an IP network with a stage manager system, intercom system, beam steering loudspeakers, and a wireless micro port system. Acoustically, a reflector array and modular portal reflectors ensure good speech intelligibility and balanced reverberation times.

The entire project—from the initial study to the first premiere—was successfully implemented in less than a year.
